SAF-T-PAK was founded in 1988 with a mission to provide packaging that met the requirements for the safe transport of infectious substances under the International Air Transport Association, US Department of Transportation, Transport Canada, International Civil Aviation Organization and the United Nations. On March 28, 1989 our product became the first packaging system in the world to be certified by a national authority, Transport Canada, for the transport of infectious substances. Since then we have become the world leader in packaging for the transport of infectious substances and biological specimens. Saf-T-Pak certified packaging systems meet or exceed all national and international standards and regulations. We are also an ISO 9001:2000 registered company.

In 1991, SAF-T-PAK began offering compliance training for the safe and proper shipment of infectious substances, using classroom or seminar style sessions to teach biosafety officers, medical lab workers, microbiologists and shipping personnel to name but a few of the job titles. In 1999, SAF-T-PAK produced their first CD based training program, taking advantage of the growth and improvement in the digital media industry. In 2006, a full internet delivery version of the multimedia training program was added, giving large organizations with training needs for multiple sites the ability to add centralized administrative control for all trainees.

On June 1, 2004, SAF-T-PAK was acquired by Cantel Medical Corp (NYSE: CMN) and added to the Cantel portfolio of businesses dedicated to infection prevention and control. For more information about Cantel Medical Corp., please visit their website at http://www.cantelmedical.com

As an outgrowth to the needs of shipments of infectious and biological substances, SAF-T-PAK has added a full line of Phase Change Materials (PCMs) to their product offerings. Used to help maintain the temperature of a product or specimen within a defined range during shipping, PCMs are being used by pharmaceutical, biotech, and clinical trial companies around the world to maintain the viability of their shipments.

Headquartered in Edmonton, Alberta, SAF-T-PAK also maintains US operations from its facility strategically based in the Baltimore/Washington DC corridor, near BWI Airport.
